At BCG it was hard to build community because at the end of the day the work always came first. Therefore black employees in my office struggled to find time to engage given the heavy workload. There also wasn't a space just for black employees — the affinity group "BLx" was for both black and Latinx employees, making it hard to be a safe space. The Black leadership, for the most part, seemed open to mentoring and helping younger staff but you have to put yourself out there.
